Breast augmentations can be a life-changing event for the right woman. In women who naturally develop small breasts and are unhappy with their figure, breast augmentation can provide the shape and balance many desire.  Also, the procedure can restore breast volume lost as a result of childbearing, nursing, or the natural aging process. Implants can also help boost self-esteem and self-confidence in women who are unhappy with the current size and shape of their breasts.

Having performed over 5,000 successful breast surgeries over the course of my career, I can attest that no two operations are exactly alike. The highly individualized procedure can vary greatly across the country. In San Francisco alone, the cost can range anywhere from $6,500 to $12,000.

Breast Implant “Mills”, where surgeons are hired and paid on a per case basis by companies that aggressively market cheap surgery have driven the price down – unfortunately, that doctor may very well not be available to handle issues or concerns that may potentially arise, and the company that marketed the procedure will frequently direct you back to the surgeon… who’s simply not available.

What Goes into the Price You’ll Pay?

  • Implant Type -Your personal preference can play a major role in the cost of your surgery. Silicone implants have a higher price tag than saline due to the manufacturing process and warranty.
  • Anesthesiologist -This is a trained professional who monitors you during your surgery and keeps you comfortable throughout via intravenous sedation or general anesthesia. Trust me. You’ll be glad to pay for their contribution to your operation!
  • Surgeon Expertise -A surgeon who’s in the early stages of their career is, who is less experienced, and who is trying to build their knowledge base, will often charge less. For the best possible outcome, you’re encouraged to opt for a surgeon such as myself who is 1) Board-certified with the American Board of Plastic Surgery, 2) has the extensive knowledge and training necessary to prevent/address potential complications, and 3) has a large gallery of strong before and after photos that reflect many years of experience.
  • Combination Procedures -Many women choose to have a breast lift or another procedure at the same time as their augmentation for a joint recovery time. Breast lift surgery improves loose, sagging skin while reshaping the breast and repositioning the nipple.
  • Facility Fees -Surgery requires highly-controlled conditions including a sterile surgical venue and equipment used to ensure patient safety.
  • Recovery Expenses -After your surgery, you’ll be placed on several medications to facilitate a speedy recovery as well as supplied a medical support bra.

When budgeting for your breast augmentation, it’s important to consider both the short and long-term benefits. Older breast implants had an average 10-year lifespan – the newest cohesive gel implants will, on average, last much longer. Breast augmentations can help you enjoy a proportionate figure and an improved self-image for a long time to come.  (And shopping for clothes, lingerie, and bathing suits is a lot more fun!)

What is Chin Augmentation?

A chin augmentation is a surgical procedure that alters the underlying structure of your lower face. It can create a well-defined profile and yes, a prominent jawline. The procedure can be as dramatic or subtle as you’d like. It’s a safe and effective operation that requires minimal downtime while producing long-lasting results you’ll love.

Your enhancement is done as an outpatient procedure under either local or general anesthesia. Although no two procedures are identical, you can expect to be in and out of surgery within 45 minutes. During this time, I will meticulously work to readjust the structure of your jawline through an incision made under your chin in a natural crease line.  This is preferable to incisions inside the mouth as those incisions have a significant risk of muscle damage and a much higher risk of infection.  In some cases, a medical-grade implant may be used to achieve your aesthetic goals.  Solid silicone implants are used that have no risk of leak or rupture.  The implant, once healed in place, is generally non-detectable by feel or by appearance.

Downtime is minimal with chin enhancement surgery. The majority of men and women can return to work within just 2-7 days. Typically, I recommend a limited activity for up to 1-week post-op. However, the recovery time varies on a case by case basis.

What are the Benefits?

One of the best things about chin enhancement surgeries is the instant, long-lasting results. Some initial swelling and bruising may mask the final outcome of your procedure. As post-surgical swelling subsides, your new, bolder chin will become clearly evident. Most patients only need one surgery throughout their lifetime to meet their end-goals.

At your in-person consultation, I’ll work with you to create an individualized treatment plan for an optimal outcome. I’ll perform a facial evaluation and talk to you about your desired results to help determine if chin enhancement is right for you. Computerized imaging which will clearly show the type of improvement you can expect will be performed. During this time, I’ll also be available to answer any questions or address any concerns you have about your surgery.

A common misconception in society is that plastic surgery is just for women. Well, these days, more and more guys are spending their time and money on improving their overall appearance. After all, why wouldn’t men look and feel their best-self possible too? That leaves many people wondering the somewhat complicated question… ‘Are facelifts different for men and women?’

As I mentioned, the answer is somewhere in the grey-zone. Yes, the procedure addresses many of the same concerns for both sexes; fine lines and wrinkles, loose/saggy skin, loss of volume. Again, yes, the results from facelifts are similar too. Both men and women can achieve a refreshed, younger-looking appearance with the help of facelifts.

But, that’s about where the similarities end. Facelift procedures for men are more complicated and require a highly-skilled surgeon with a good deal of technical experience.

Let’s take a look at a few things that your surgeon will have to take into consideration when performing a facelift on a man.

  • While women tend to prefer softer facial features, men often seek out more defined, chiseled contours. Feminizing men’s facial features is an absolute no-no!
  • Men have stronger ligaments, larger faces, and thicker skin which can make the procedure more complex.
  • Incisions for facelifts on women are easier to conceal. Due to premature balding, sideburns, and facial hair, it takes a skilled surgeon to know just where to place an incision when performing a facelift on guys.
  • Facial hair also means more blood vessels to contend with. Thanks to our more vascular skin, it puts us at a higher risk for potential complications. Blood pressure levels need to be continuously monitored for men throughout the procedure. Drains and compression dressings are utilized during and post-op to prevent potential hematoma.

Ideally, a knowledgeable board-certified surgeon can produce an optimal outcome for both men and women. In either instance after your procedure, you’ll appear well-rested and youthful without looking like you’ve undergone surgery. Before choosing a surgeon, take a look at their before and after photos and ask about their experience performing facelifts for men.
