Dermaplaning

Conveniently located to serve San Francisco, Walnut Creek, and the Bay Area, SF

Dermaplaning is a safe and effective manual exfoliation skin care procedure. It requires the use of a sterile surgical scalpel which has been adapted to gently scrape off the outer surface layer of dead skin cells which build up over time and give the skin a dull appearance. The fine vellus hairs (peach fuzz) on the face are also gently removed in the process leaving a velvety smooth feel to the skin. This hair will grow back normally just like it was prior to the treatment.

Dermaplaning is often followed by a light chemical acid peel. This enhances results by accelerating skin cell turnover and sloughing off of the superficial layer of skin revealing the fresh new skin below. The combination of Dermaplaning and a light chemical peel give the skin a youthful glow and smoother surface texture. After this treatment, your skin care products will penetrate better and be much more effective.

Dr. Barnett recommends a complimentary Dermaplaning and peel treatment for facelift patients 3-4 weeks after surgery because in the first few weeks following surgery skin cell regeneration speeds up and the dead skin cells don’t slough off the skin’s surface at their normal pre-surgical rate. Dermaplaning with a peel is the perfect treatment to clean off this dull surface layer of dead skin cells and give your facelift results a polished look right away.

Surgical and non-surgical patients can safely do Dermaplaning and peel treatments as a single treatment or in a series for ongoing skin maintenance.
