Liposuction is the ideal procedure for men and women who are bothered by localized fat pockets that aren’t responding to traditional weight loss methods. Certain areas around the face, neck, and body are hard to treat with diet and exercise alone. While a patient may be nearly satisfied with their progress, liposuction can help them sculpt their final figure and give them a newfound sense of self-confidence.

Throughout treatment, I use the latest, most state-of-the-art forms of liposuction combined with advanced surgical skill. Depending on the area being treated and the amount of fat to be removed, you may be better suited for tumescent liposuction, ultrasound-assisted, or laser-assisted liposuction. Thanks to modern technology, liposuction comes with many clear advantages for patients including minimal downtime.

What Can I Expect from Liposuction?

Liposuction is typically done on an outpatient basis. Some patients may need general anesthesia while others are comfortable with a local anesthetic which will be discussed at the time of your initial consultation. In some instances, liposuction can be done in as little as 2-3 hours.

During the procedure, small incisions are strategically placed for optimal fat removal. A thin cannula tube is then inserted, and fat is suctioned out leaving you with a more contoured physique. Incisions are opened and closed in a way that minimizes discomfort while also facilitating a speedy recovery.

While you can go home the same day, you’ll likely feel stiff or uncomfortable for the first several days following your procedure. Mild pain medication is prescribed to minimize discomfort during this time. Although some patients are ready to get back to work in as little as 3-days, I typically recommend waiting up to 1-week before getting back into your normal swing of things.

When Can I Start More Strenuous Activities?

More strenuous activities can be gradually incorporated into your routine as you feel comfortable. Bruising typically lasts about 1-3 weeks, and the majority of swelling will subside after about 6-weeks. A compression garment should be worn throughout the first week and at night as necessary to minimize swelling. During this time, it’s essential to listen to your body and not push yourself too hard otherwise you risk prolonging the healing process.

Every patient has a different recovery period according to his or her body as well as the location and amount of fat being removed. As a board-certified surgeon, I work closely with each patient to ensure an optimal outcome with as little recovery as possible. I’ll provide you with a post-surgical recovery plan that’s personalized based on your individual surgery and lifestyle.

Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) is a commonly requested procedure among aging adults. The eyes can be one of the first tell-tale signs that you’re aging faster on the outside than you feel on the inside. Most patients are happy with the results of their procedure immediately and can maintain lasting results for a lifetime to come. One of the best things about an eyelid lift is the relatively short recovery period.

Eyelid lift procedures are highly customizable to the patient’s wishes. You may choose to undergo the procedure for aesthetic reasons or functional purposes such as a sagging upper lid that impedes your field of vision. I work closely with each patient to help them achieve their desired results through upper and lower eyelid lifts and/or combination blepharoplasties.

What Happens the Day of My Procedure?

Upper eyelid surgery is the most common type of blepharoplasty and is done with a local anesthetic. Lower eyelid surgery is slightly more complex and requires the use of general anesthesia. Either way, I use advanced surgical skills and artistry to ensure incisions are opened and closed in a way to maximize comfort while minimizing recovery times.

You can go home the same day or have the option to stay overnight. Once home, you’ll need to take it easy and not overstrain your eyes for the first several days. Cold compresses, prescription medications, and light activities like walking around the house can facilitate a speedy healing process with reduced swelling and bruising.

What Recovery Can I Expect?

Stitches will be removed anywhere from 4-7 days following your procedure. After stitches removed, a light dusting of cosmetics can be used to mask any unwanted bruising. While some patients decide to head back to work in as little as 3-days, I often recommend taking at least 1-week to ensure you’re healed properly. In most cases, the majority of bruising and swelling will have been resolved within 1-2 weeks.

Strenuous activities should be kept to a minimum throughout the first week. Activities that involve increased blood flow to the treatment area should be avoided for 2+ weeks. If your eyes become tired or heavy, it’s a good idea to give them a rest. You can avoid prolonging the healing process by closely following your post-surgical recovery plan.

Is An Eyelid Lift Right for Me?

You may be a good candidate for blepharoplasty if you’d like a one-time procedure to improve the overall appearance of your upper face. Patients should be in good general health with realistic expectations. As with any surgical procedure, non-smokers have the best outcome. Patients who do smoke should be willing to abstain for 6-weeks beforehand and throughout the recovery process.

During your in-person consultation, we’ll speak about your concerns in-depth before deciding if an eyelid lift is right for you. As a board-certified surgeon, I’m committed to providing patient-centric care and will never pressure you into any procedures. I want you to have the best possible outcome with the least amount of downtime.

Aging doesn’t occur at the same time or way in every area on our body. Some men and women may experience aging solely on the upper portion of their face due to sun exposure, gravity, or facial tension (we’re talking about stress here). Others may be better suited for a traditional facelift to address facial volume loss. That’s why I find it so important to personally customize procedures according to each patient’s individual needs.

Brow Lift Walnut Creek

What is a Brow Lift?

A brow lift is a surgical procedure that dramatically reduces the appearance of visible aging on the upper face. Although I do ‘lift the brow’, there is so much more that goes into the procedure. Wrinkle reduction plays a large role in the procedure as well as tightening underlying muscles. Patients can take 10-15 years off their facial appearance with a single upper facelift procedure.

Brow lifts are done on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia. Incisions are made behind the hairline and are easily concealable making your procedure an inconspicuous one. Recovery is fairly straightforward with most patients getting back to their normal routine within 1-2 weeks. Enjoy natural-looking results that make people wonder what your new skincare regime might be.

Am I a Candidate for a Brow Lift?

You may be a good fit for brow lift procedures if your primary concerns are on the upper portion of the face. Ideally, you will retain some facial fullness on the upper cheeks, the under-eye area, and have minimal skin laxity on the mid-to-lower face. During a brow lift procedure, I will meticulously work to reposition the hairline and minimize;

  • Vertical Wrinkles Between the Brows
  • Horizontal Forehead Lines
  • Droopy or Overhanging Eyebrows

In some cases, you may be a good candidate for combination procedures including an eyelid lift. While a brow lift is a fantastic procedure on its own, a blepharoplasty can do wonders for patients that appear tired, sad, or angry due to puffy or sagging eyelids.

During your in-person consultation, we’ll discuss your concerns in detail and talk about what you’d like to get out of your surgery. Afterward, I’ll create a customized surgical plan to help you safely and effectively meet your end-goals. As a board-certified facial plastic surgeon, I’ve been able to provide countless patients with natural-looking results they love.
