What are the Benefits of a Rhinoplasty?

The term “rhinoplasty” refers to surgical procedures performed on the nose. My practice is cosmetic and the primary goal of rhinoplasty in my practice is to improve the appearance of your nose, but a nice side benefit is that in performing the rhinoplasty I will often deal with the non-cosmetic issues, called Functional Issues, such as obstruction.
The benefits of this type of surgery are substantial. Here are some of the positives that you can expect should you decide to undergo the procedure.
Cosmetic Rhinoplasty Benefits
Living your life, worrying about how your nose looks is unpleasant. It makes you feel anxious, and often interferes with social interactions.
The goal of modern rhinoplasties is to give you a beautiful yet natural-looking nose. Ideally, people should not be able to tell that you have had any work done. Instead, you should just appear as the best version of yourself. People will see that you look great, but they might not be able to determine why. In the past, the primary goal of rhinoplasty was to make the nose smaller. Because of limitations primarily related to the skin envelope that covers your nose, and secondarily related to airway volume passing through your nose when you breathe, I often cannot make your nose exactly the size you desire. Over reducing the internal cartilage and bone of the nose is a major source of problems and I will not do that. Why? Because the shape and the function of your nose may be compromised. It is far better to have a natural-looking nose that works well than a small nose that is tight, narrowed, unnatural in appearance, and interferes with breathing. Your nose should fit with and enhance your face and appearance. With computer imaging to give you a good idea of the final result from surgery, we can work together to determine if our expectations line up.
This approach is designed to give you the best of both worlds. You get a more attractive nose AND none of the telltale signs that accompanied nose jobs of the past. The nose you get blends seamlessly with the rest of your face.

Functional Rhinoplasty Benefits
Many people choose rhinoplasty for aesthetic reasons, but for some, it is a functional imperative. Some patients have a deviated septum where the wall that separates the two sides of the nose is shifted over to one side, or curved creating obstruction. This misalignment can make it difficult to breathe through the nose, especially for patients with asthma or allergies.
Rhinoplasty to correct a deviated septum, called a Septoplasty, is a procedure that is designed to restore the nose to balance. It reshapes and repositions the septum, eliminating the obstruction. Additionally, it can help solve breathing problems caused by polyps and enlarged turbinates as well.
Rhinoplasty is a fabulously versatile surgical technique that allows me to customize your nose based on your requirements. Feeling better about how your nose looks can have positive effects in the rest of your life, for example providing more confidence to pursue relationships or career advancement – things that you wouldn’t have done before.

Am I a Good Candidate for Rhinoplasty?
While many people will benefit from rhinoplasty, you should always discuss your treatment and expectations with a surgeon beforehand. Computer imaging is very helpful to align expectations and reduce the chances of disappointment.
